Greetings and welcome to Te Kura Tuatahi o Te Koau Grant’s Braes School! Nestled in the Dunedin hill suburb of Waverley, at the beginning of the Otago Peninsula, our kura offers a vibrant and exciting learning environment for around 240 students. We cater to Year 0-6 children and pride ourselves on providing an exceptional educational experience for all.
Our school operates a structured literacy approach, ensuring that all students develop strong foundational reading and writing skills. Collaboration is key throughout our kura, as we work closely together to support the growth and success of every student. Our small size is one of our greatest strengths, allowing us to foster a family-friendly atmosphere where staff are able to know and care for all of our children.
Whānau participation is highly valued, and we offer many opportunities for families to engage with their children’s learning. We have an incredibly talented and professional team of staff members, supported by a dedicated Board of Trustees and an involved parent community.
Our school is second to none: a fantastic place for children to learn and a rewarding place for teachers to teach. It is our collective aim to provide the very best learning opportunities for all of our students, working in collaboration to ensure their success. We live by the whakatauki that was gifted to us; Mahia te mahi o tō ake kākau - Do things from the heart.
Parents and caregivers play a vital role in the success of our school. You are the first educators of your children, and your positive support of their school education provides encouragement to your child, their teacher, and helps build the spirit of our kura.
Enjoy exploring our website, and please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or would like to arrange a guided tour of our school.
Kā mihi nui,
Gareth Taylor
